Rain, Rain... Go Away!

It's great to be back in the 805 again, but not so great that it's been pouring down rain since I got here! Streets are flooded and we can't even see 5 feet ahead of us when we are driving... not so ideal conditions to be outside. Regardless, my mom and I thought it would be a good idea to get some final Christmas shopping done, so we headed out in raincoats and umbrellas. Not more than a mile down the road, we get a flat tire. After waiting 45 minutes for AAA to come change the tire in the pouring rain, we finally were able to switch cars and continue on our journey. Despite the delay, we got the shopping done and are now ready to enjoy the rest of this record-breaking rain indoors (until Wednesday)! And by record-breaking, I mean a whopping 3.62 inches of rain in 24 hours... with 4 more inches on the way. Who wants to go swimming?

New Facebook?

A few days ago, Facebook launched their new edition of the Facebook profile. At the top of the profile lists an overview of your life, basically, where you live, where you went to school, where you work, etc. Now, I must say, this new layout has caused quite a bit of controversy. The most common complaint -- The immediate and instant availability of any and all information. One would argue that your information is out there anyways, but opposers say that the old profile allowed each Facebook user to decide what information was immediately available and what information they wanted to make a little more difficult of other users to find. Personally, I hate the new Facebook layout and would much rather have the old one back. What do you all think?

Harry Potter!

My teammates and I went to the midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 at the Metreon Theatre at 12:05. We showed up at 8:00 PM to get seats among the thousands of dressed up enthusiasts and crazed super-fans. We got lucky... front and center. After waiting there for four hours for the premiere to start, the lights dimmed and the screen started rolling. But with our luck, the previews appeared in only hot pink and lime green. We looked at each other confused, and we heard someone a few rows back say, "wait... I didn't do acid or shrooms before this movie." Amongst the booing audience we sat there laughing at the ridiculous comment until the screen was finally fixed and the audience's "booing" turned to applause. The two and a half hour long movie had me on the edge of my seat the entire time, even shedding a tear or two at one specific part (which I won't give away). Funniest part of the night: avoiding the long lines down the escalators by running down the "up" ones... and almost falling because of it in front of hundreds of people. I don't know if Part 2 will match up to this epic adventure, but I can't wait to find out.
