My teammates and I went to the midnight showing of
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 at the
Metreon Theatre at 12:05. We showed up at 8:00 PM to get seats among the thousands of dressed up enthusiasts and crazed super-fans. We got lucky... front and center. After waiting there for four hours for the premiere to start, the lights dimmed and the screen started rolling. But with our luck, the previews appeared in only hot pink and lime green. We looked at each other confused, and we heard someone a few rows back say, "wait... I didn't do acid or shrooms before this movie." Amongst the booing audience we sat there laughing at the ridiculous comment until the screen was finally fixed and the audience's "booing" turned to applause. The two and a half hour long movie had me on the edge of my seat the entire time, even shedding a tear or two at one specific part (which I won't give away). Funniest part of the night: avoiding the long lines down the escalators by running down the "up" ones... and almost falling because of it in front of hundreds of people. I don't know if Part 2 will match up to this epic adventure, but I can't wait to find out.
